This course is suitable for anyone looking to gain an understanding of mental health, with the aim of being able to provide advice and practical support for others in the workplace. It provides learners with the resources and knowledge to be able to identify signs of stress and various mental health conditions, with the intention of guiding them towards the correct support and improving their organisation’s mental health culture.
This 6-hour qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions and not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals but will gain the knowledge to identify when a person may have a condition and know where they can go to get help.
Those who achieve this qualification could progress onto the FAA Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health.
Please be aware that this course focuses on employees in the workplace and covers subjects that some people may find distressing, including suicide and self-harm. If a delegate feels overwhelmed, they can leave the course at any time. However, if you feel in advance that this subject may be too distressing for the delegate please do not book them on without first asking them whether they would feel comfortable attending.
